The Zohar, Zhitomir printing 1863, printed by the rabbis Hanina Lipa and HaRav Yehoshua Heshel Shapira, grandsons of the Rav of Slavita. Sections: Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy. First volume includes Exodus, (1) 278 page. Good condition, lone moth damage in the margins. Second volume is Leviticus—Deuteronomy, 309, 9 pages. Separate title page for Numbers, moth damage on the final pages. The Exodus volume has the signature of ownership on the title page, “Aaron,” and the stamp of the Beit Midrash of the Admor of Chernobyl, Tzfat.

Commentary by Rabbeinu Haim ben Atar ziy”a. Printed by Shapira brothers, grandsons of Rav of Slavita. Nice copy in excellent condition, with original binding from red leather with a golden and decorated engraving. In the center of the decoration on the binding there is a carved sign of ownership by “Eliezer Shuv, in 1886.” On p. 396 is a nice stamp by the same owners from Kushta.

Sefer Kiseh Eliyahu (Eliyahu’s Seat), Jerusalem, 1865, Bak printring, dedication of the Kabbalist HaRav Nissim Ani

Divided by four section titles, “Reshit Hochma,” “Yirat HaShem,” “Sechel Tov L’Kol Oseihem,” “Tehilato Omedet La’a.” Kabbalah. One of Jerusalem’s rare books. On the title page is written, “…this book was copied from the manuscript in order to give the masses a chance to read it, and the compiler is unknown.” In the book “Hebrew books printed in Jerusalem,” S. HaLevi, number 112, it is written that the compiler of this book was the Gaon HaRav Eliyahu Mani, Av Beit Din of Hevron and head of the Kabbalist yeshiva “Beit El.” On the page before the title page is the dedication and signature handwritten by the Gaon Kabbalist HaRav Nissim Ani, zt”l, one of the great Kabbalists and sages of Baghdad. In 1857 he immigrated to Israel, and was appointed one of the Sages of Yeshivat Beit El. He died in 1900 a master. He edited the book “Divrei Shalom” for his grandson HaRashash, was the childhood friend of HaRav Eliyahu Mani, after they both moved to Israel they studied Kabbalah in a hevruta together. Good condition, binding is defective. The margins are bent (dog-ears) in parts.

“Milchemet Hova” (Obligatory War) Polemics, Jerusalem 1885, Gashtzineni printing

Issues of gittin and names of gittin, the book is directed against the book of HaRav Shlomo Gantzfried, “Ohalei Shem,” that was published in Ungvár in 1878. After the title page are two letters by HaRav Shlomo Halberstam of Vishnitz to the compiler, afterwards is printed a Tzantzalut. (2) 19 (1) page. (S. HaLevi 508). Ok to good condition, moth damage, defects on last 3 pages with damage to the text in a number of words. New fabric binding.

1. “Shofriya d’Yaakov,” drashot on the simple reading of the Torah, on the Kabbalah, by the Gaon Kabbalist Rabbi Yaakov Chai Zrihan—one of the rabbis of Tiberias, Jerusalem 1911. Excellent condition. 2. “HaKonters HaYehieli” divided into three sections, “Beit HaShem,” “Beit Olamim,” “Beit HaAdam.” By the Kabbalist HaRav Yitzhak Alfiya, one of the rabbis and kabbalists of Jerusalem, who renewed the “Ta’anit HaDibur” during the time of the Shovavim, Jerusalem 1928, important and rare book, excellent condition. 3. “Kesef Tzaruf” drashot on the Torah, by HaRav Sa’adiya ben Yosef Tzapira—one of the rabbis of Yemen, with the book “Me’ein Ganim” on the Song of Solomon with Kabbalah, Jerusalem 1931. Good condition. 4. “Tzdaka v’Rahamim” midrash on the five megillot, by HaRav Rahamim Melamed Cohen, Jerusalem 1926, excellent condition. 5. Sefer of questions and answers “Beit Avraham” by HaRav Avraham Avar Hershowitz, answers that he was given by the sages of the generation, such as HaRav Shmuel of Salant and HaRav Yitzhak Elhanan Spector, HaRav Kook, and more, Jerusalem 1923. Excellent condition. 2. “Minhat Yehuda,” on man’s behavior. Mussar from the great Chassids and rabbis, by HaRav Yehuda Striezhower, Jerusalem 1927. 3. “Ohel Yaakov,” additions to the Torah on Kabbalah and pshat, by the Gaon Kabbalist Rabbi Yaakov Hai Zrihan—one of the Tiberias rabbis, Jerusalem 1931. Excellent condition. 4. “Tze’akat Bnei Yisrael,” articles and prayers, slichot, mussar for the sanctification of man, Jerusalem 1924. Good condition. 5. “Yeriyot Shlomo,” drashot on different issues, by HaRav Shmuel Becher Shlomo; compiler died during the prime of his life, 24 years old. Excellent condition, original binding. 2. “Kagan HaYerek,” exegesis on the book of corrections to the Zohar according to the works of HaRav Chaim Vittel in two sections, by the Rav Klapa Gig, Jerusalem 1912, only edition. 167, 220 page. Good condition. Original binding. 3. “Sha’ar HaHatzer,” from the book “Sha’arei Tzedek” droshim and additions regarding immigration to Israel, by Rav David ben Shimon (head of the Beit Din for the Western communities in Jerusalem, 1824-1880), printed in Jerusalem by Yisrael Bak, in 1862, including a index pamphlet called Ulam HaSha’ar, missing at the end 27 pages of the key, stamps of ownership in Ashkenazi handwriting on the title page. Good condition, binding and pages are loose. 4. “Megillat Esther” with two exegeses in the name of “Korban shel Yisrael,” by HaRav Aryeh Leib Fromkin, Jerusalem 1893. Five books of Torah with Targum Onkelus and Rashi’s commentary, ba’al HaTurim, Toldot Aharon, in addition it has big and small mesorah with commentary of Menorat Shlomo, by HaRav Uri Shraga Feivush, ben Shlomo Zalman, the book “Maskil L’David,” with Rashi’s commentary by Rabbi David Pardo, with the book “Otzar HaHayyim” with the 613 mitzvot. Book “Heychal HaBracha,” exegesis on the secrets of the Ari and the Ba’al Shem Tov by the Moharar Yitzhak Yehuda Yehiel Safrin, the Admor of Komarno. Genesis – Deuteronomy. 5 sections, photocopy of the first edition, with colorful title pages, the edition was published in New York in 1973. Numbered edition: copy before us is no. 204. With Rashi’s commentary, Targum Onkelus and Ashkenazi translation, exegesis and corrections by the sofrim, Haftarot, the megillot, Shabbat prayers. Two title pages at the start of every volume, the first is illustrated with the figures of Moshe and Aaron, cherubs and eagles. Special title pages for the order of Haftarot and the prayers. Detailed list of subscribers from the Furth community and others in Germany. Complete set, 5 volumes. Genesis: (16) 1-177, (1) 179-236 page. Exodus: [4] (missing the page at the end of the introduction, and the order of prayers was bound at the start of the book), 1-155, [1], 157-200, 26 page. Leviticus: (4) 1-142, (1) 144-158, 28 page. Numbers: (4) 1-118, (1) 120-140, 18, page. Deuteronomy: (4) 1-105, (1), 107-176, 20, page. Wonderful and pretty set, good condition, new, handsome binding with golden embossing, some of the pages are green, in Genesis the first pages have stains and wear in the margins, in Exodus there is moth damage on a number of pages. In some of the volumes is the stamp of ownership of the Hevra Kadisha of Parish. In Leviticus there is an old stamp of ownership on the title page with Ashkenazi handwriting, “I bought it from Honi in honor of Tzuri and Koni, Moshe bar Meshalem…”

With five separate title pages for each section of the Tanach, Torah, Megillot, First Prophets, Later Prophets, Writings. Title pages are all with architectural frames, pretty. Wide-ranging exegesis on the sefer halachot gedolot related to the Rav Yehudai Gaon by the Gaon HaRav Shlomo Shalem, Av Beit Din of Amsterdam. 2 sections printed together, only edition, rare book. (8) 74, (4) 82 page. 31cm. Introduction pages and many poems in honor of the compiler and the wealthy of Amsterdam in two sections. The book mentions the compiler, the Rav Gaon Eliezer Nachum ba’al Hazon Nahum on the mishnah and brings additions and answers of his on the halacha. Compiled also “Divrei Shlomo,” drashot. “Lev Shalem,” on the Rambam. Generally excellent condition, old binding is restored, light defects and stains.
